Couture Fashion  Week took up weekend residence in  the Grand Ballroom of New York's Waldorf Astoria. This event  has around since 2003 and seems to get better every year. It is the perfect backdrop for this fashion extravaganza that takes off after MBFW comes to a close. On February 17, 2012 Founder Andres Aquino once again brought together a diverse and eclectic group of designers for a weekend of high fashion.  Fall collections were presented by 19 designers representing; United Kingdom, Lebanon, Spain, Turkey, India, Peru, Romania, USA, and  Rep. of Georgia. Couture Fashion Week is not your average runway show experience for sure, the entire presentation is crafted to tell the story of the designs. There is a bit of theater, music, and drama. Winged dancers accompanied the models down the runway during the Collection Amoureux;  Bridal hair Couture that opened the show. Musicians and vocalists shine as well against the luxurious ambiance of the Grand Ballroom.

Over the three day period there are an average of six designers a day presenting their collections. Shows happen in slots scheduled for 4, 6, and 8pm. Musical performances can happen before, during, and after collections are shown. Afterwards, the designers and models take to the red carpet to pose for pictures and conduct interviews. it's usually a frenzy as the many local an international fashion media people converge to get coverage. This time around it was no different as the designers brought their A game to the runway. Romero Bryan brought out some timeless gowns while Sushma Patel's designs included beautiful vibrant colors, and a superbly crafted embroidered and beaded white gown. Luis Machicao gave his collection a tropical color pallet complete with feather adorned hair styling for his models. Catalin Botezatu, Avril Lemieux (ALICAT)  were among the returning designers, and there were some notable new additions this year.

Laurel DeWitt (LaureLuxe)  brought her Metal Couture and Jewelry collection to CFW  featuring some stunning pieces. Innovative techniques in design were not limited to metal. The Jet Art collection incorporates the jet engine as a tool in production of designs painted directly on a line of jeans. Princess Tarinan Von Anhalt line is based on the work of her late artist husband. He used a similar technique to produce his distinctive artwork. Founder Andres Aquino always brings a special touch to the runway with his collection. As always the craftsman ship of the designs speaks volumes to the dedication of the people who are selected to show their work during this three day period. Couture Fashion Week is always an extravaganza, always diverse, and always very posh.
