Project Runway finale at NYFW SS2017 took place on September 9 at the Moynihan Station venue. For TV viewers, Season 15 of Project Runway premiered on Sept. 15, this adds an interesting aspect to viewing the show. Even at 10am the scheduled start of the show the house is thick with the energy of anticipation. Judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, Zac Posen were joined by guest judge, and Disney star Zendaya. Like a signature move the judges walk to the edge of the runway. They stopped at the front of the runway to pose for photographers.

In past season great care had been taken to ensure that the finalist were not known to the audience at the time of the finale. Contestants who were eliminated would come back to show collections along with the unnamed finalists. However this year the presentation was rather different. Heidi began this seasons show by introducing all 16 designers from Season 15 and had them all walk the runway. They didn't introduce themselves or speak about their collections as has been done in the past. Heidi announced that Project Runway is celebrating its 15th year. Surely a huge accomplishment for the producers and the designers that have been particiating year after year.

This season the finalists were given $9,000 to create their 10-piece collection in the hope of being declared the winner. All of the collections highlighted some really unique elements in terms of textiles, colors and embellishments. One of the collections featured some really sharp embroidered denim pieces. Other collections showcased brightly colored leather, and neoprene elements. The mix of color and materials brought a vibrant energy to the collections presented. The show concluded when Klum called for mentor Tim Gunn to come from backstage. As always Gunn had praise for the designers and the hard work they put in. He also thanked the judges, and the audience. Suprizingly, the individual designers were not named which created a buzz of curiosity about the new season.

Among the celebs in the front row were; 'Miss Universe Pia Aonzo Wurtzbach, Miss USA Deshauna Barber, and past guest judge Kelly Osbourne. The Project Runway finale show seems to be a bit of a reunion as well. Past contestants can be seen chatting and taking pics with cast members from current and previous seasons. Usually there is a good deal of catching up between show alumni. The new cast members are a talented and interesting bunch, season 15 isn't goint to be dull at all.

Season 15 of Project Runway is currently airing on Lifetime.
