Kids Fashion Week: Little Divas

By :- R. Anthony Morrison

Since 2010 Petite Parade Kids Fashion Week has produced this event showcasing fashion and products for toddlers and tweens. Their mission is to legitimize children’s fashion as well as offer an alternative source of visibility for kid related brands. This year the event took place on Saturday, and Sunday October 5th & 6th. The collections were shown at the Industria Studios in Manhattan. Major sponsorship or the event was provided by Vogue bambini. Among the brands being showcased were; Parsons The New School for Design, UGG Australia, Swarovsky, JC Penny, Bonnie Young, Lamantine Paris, Pale Cloud, and Stride Rite Children's Group. This years show also featured Heidi Klum's brand; "Truly Scrumptious". As was to be expected the number of guests and media for her 1pm show was large.

The star presence on the runway did not end with Heidi Klum though. Sean "Diddy" Combs Daughters Chance, Jessie, and D'lila made their runway debut. The future models walked the runway for Swarosky, and Ooh! La, La! Couture. The proud father cheered his daughters on from the front row and snapped a few pics of course. The seven-year-old twins Jessie, and D'Lila were all smiles as they stood back to back at the end of the runway.

Kid Mc's/bloggers Tristen & Tyler did a great job of keeping the energy of the event flowing. Runway beats were supplied by nine year old dj Kai Song. There were lots of fun ideas reflected in the collections. The colors were bright and incorporated animated themes as well as color variations on animal prints. From matching pajamas, rainwear, swimwear, to crystal embellished frocks, the style options for kids are many. This is definitely an area of the industry to watch. More and more designers are turning their attention to this market. We'll be sure to be on the look for for the latest trends in children's fashion at the next Kids Fashion Week.
