THE 3rd ANNUAL TIMEHRI FILM FESTIVAL RETURNS TO GUYANA WITH A FRESH

NEW SLATE OF CARIBBEAN FILMS

BROOKLYN, NY – January 18, 2018 – For the third year running, the New York based Caribbean
Film Academy (CaFA), in partnership with the Caribbean-American culture blog Rewind And Come
Again (RACA), will hold the Timehri Film Festival (TFF), a celebration of Guyanese & Caribbean
film, in and around Guyana’s capital city of Georgetown from Wednesday, May 30 – Sunday, June 3,
2018.
Over the five days, TFF will hold daily film screenings & discussions at various locations in
Georgetown, including the Moray House and the Dutch Bottle Café. Films by and about Guyanese
will feature prominently. Additionally, both short and feature length films from around the Caribbean
and the diaspora will be screened. Most screenings will be free and open to the public.
In an effort to reach audiences who don’t have access to the festival, TFF will once again hold a
series of satellite screenings in and around the capital and neighboring villages. Films will be shown
at select schools, prisons, and indigenous communities.

FILMMAKER EDUCATION FOR THE GUYANESE COMMUNITY
For the first time TFF will offer a week-long filmmaking workshop, from Monday, May 28 –
Saturday, June 2, 2018. Taught by an award-winning Caribbean director/producer, the workshop will
focus on the nuts and bolts of documentary filmmaking. From production and aesthetics to
interviewing styles and storytelling, this workshop will provide information on key production
techniques and industry best practices. Visit our website TimehriFilmFestival.com for details and
registration.
