Armed with her keen eye for style, she created a printed catalog of clothing and accessories, selling them to teachers and her mom’s colleagues. While studying fashion at the University of Trinidad and Tobago, Afiya’s creative juices flowed as she delved into designing jewelry and curating a small boutique, thanks to her mom’s unwavering support. Naming her store “Loud” was a heartfelt tribute to her grandfather, Leon, and what better way to represent bold fashion than with a name that screams confidence? “I chose the word ‘Loud’ from the ‘L’ in his name to represent bold, expressive fashion,” she explains.

As her designs began to take center stage, Afiya realized that the world needed more of her unique flair. After a successful launch of her pants collection at a local fashion show, she shifted gears, leaving behind her first store to focus solely on Loud by Afiya.
